West Michigan Construction Institute is accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), a nationally recognized curriculum granting students portable credentials.
WMCI provides three different categories of training:
Open to High School juniors and seniors, this year long, introductory program equips students with the skills and knowledge to launch a career in construction. Students can enter the Carpentry or Electrical pathway.
WMCI provides hands-on training for a diverse variety of skilled trades, including: Carpentry, Concrete, Plumbing, Sprinkler Fitting, Exterior Envelope, and Drywall.
WMCI offers a range of training options for students who are currently employed in the construction industry and hungry to advance their careers. We provide training options for construction leadership, safety (First Aid/CPR, OSHA compliance and Leadership) construction technology (Bluebeam), understanding construction documents, and Spanish language skills for the jobsite.
Note: WMCI prepares students for careers in the commercial construction industry and does not provide residential construction classes.
Students are not required to submit transcripts, grades, or proof of a high school diploma to enroll in classes at WMCI. A deposit is due upon registration to secure the student’s seat in the class.
Yes! We encourage all new students to take a tour of the facility and meet with a staff member before signing up for classes. This will help answer questions about the registration process and what a day in the class looks like for students.
Career coaching is available for students interested in connecting with potential employers. WMCI is an education-focused institution that offers career coaching services but does not guarantee job placement.
WMCI offers daytime and evening courses. Course schedules are dependent on the trade.

Tuition is dependent on the trade. Typically, courses are around $2,000 per semester plus additional book and lab fees.
